COAT OF SMILES, parody art of iconic symbols. A duck's hat, a mouse's ears and a smiling yellow button. Three iconic things brought together in one artwork.

The ACME Corp.'s Super Mind's Eye XR-3000 Z Delta Bravo (or the way how I look at things)

I felt like putting up a new blog header. Of course with a (typical of me) "built-in" reference to Ria Irvin's Eustace Tilley (The New Yorker magazine's iconic corporate character). This here started btw as a scratchy piece I picked out of a pile of StarDucks ballpoint test sketches.

When I come to consider it, my machines - all of them - have a strong reference to André Franquin's mad vehicles and machines...

This fake cover can fall in the category "The Duckish Face of Eustace Tilley":

This is more adequate, I guess:

  4. I have had the utmost fun watching this blog ever since I found it through The Art Center blog. I am most interested in the way you use color.
If you ever get the time, I would love to see more of your process on how you both choose and use colors. I love the one piece you did where you showed the candy/Popsicle wrapper and chose those colors for your work.
Great stuff and a real inspiration.
    Thanks for sharing.

  6. WOW! I really love how your machinery and inanimate objects are extensions of the live characters. Everything really seems to exist in the same world!
