COAT OF SMILES, parody art of iconic symbols. A duck's hat, a mouse's ears and a smiling yellow button. Three iconic things brought together in one artwork.
The PAPERWALKER Journal is the personal weblog of DUCKLAND creator and award-winning character designer Florian Satzinger – who worked on characters such as Donald Duck, Mickey Mouse, Looney Tunes (Daffy Duck, Bugs Bunny, Silvester etc.), Pinky And The Brain, A.J.Hogg and Scooby-Doo, for studios such as Warner Bros., Disney, ReelFX and Zanuck Family Entertainment – in which he shares bits and pieces of his character design work, processes, visual development, inspirations and reference materials of current, past and future projects.

Trevor Spencer: Monsters!

Trevor is a hell of an artist as well as a really smashing monster designer. I guess that "Muppetish" kind of look to them is one of the (many) reasons why I like his monster designs here so much. Anyway, here's the link to his blog!

Take The Bus

Lovely character design on the ants.

Update: By the way, Davide (see comments) is absolutely right, the clip with the penguins is indeed a funny and well designed one, too :) Love the design on the Orca whale:

And last but least, here's the one with the fireflies:

Vehicle Design: Jaguar E Type Inspired Submarine

Legendary cars are always good "shape-helpers" to me...

Photo: Wikimedia

By the way, this bird controlled and Jaguar inspired submarine is part of a range of designs of mine (mainly out of "Toby Skybuckle" and "Motorbirds" visdev things) which will be exhibited at the Top International Designers Show in the scope of this year's Shanghai Design Exhibition.

Mr. Bubble (1950s); We Learn About The Telephone (1965)

Update: OH WOW, WHAT A FIND, how beautifully and smoothly animated this commercial is. A real treasure for classical hand drawn animation lovers:

Apropos, I really love the animation parts of this educational film from the 1960s, too:

Toby's Hands

Practice at drawing hands is always worthwhile. At Toby Shelton's blog is a beautiful post from last year about this topic worth revisiting:

Brilliant Animation Test

Well, I wouldn't call this a test, it's more like a brilliantly done little movie, wonderfully deployed by SONY's uber-talented Chris Williams.
"Here's an early performance test I animated for the Mayor in Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. This is unfinished and is still quite rough in terms of timing and lip sync, but it gives you an idea of where we were heading with this little guy. Enjoy!"

Update: Here's a nice Q&A with 'Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs' titles co-director Todd Hemker:
