Rough Piece

Managed to make it back to my drawing desk in one piece after a lot of travelling. Anyway, here is an older rough concept piece I still like very much. I think it's inspired by one of those cardboard box spaceships my brother and I were building when we were kids...

StarDucks: Steampunk Duck Update

Update (Monday, February 18, 2008): This small prev below just came in from the racing team. Together with the news that their mechanicians will recreate some pieces of the original design in the flesh. Wow. Imagineering!

Previous Post

Alright, here are the previously posted pieces:

These are some work in progress sheets and the finished designs for the Volvo 122 racer, I've completed recently. BTW: I dedicate this post to Volvo-fanatic Brian Anderson ;)

StarDucks: Pan American Racer

It's a peach! StarDucks' Steampunk Duck appears on/sponsors Lars Kroiss' stunningly beautiful Volvo 122S on this year's La Carrera Panamericana. What you can see above are the approved rough designs. I'll post the finished designs later this month. (BTW: The photo above shows not Kroiss' racer but it is basically the same)
Photo above: L. Spurzem

Update: Alright, this just came in from Lars. This is the actual car, where the designs will be displayed:

The Many Faces of Eustace Tilley

These two steampunkish profilers are inspired largely by Rea Irvin's famous dandy character, The New Yorker's figurehead Eustace Tilley. Withal, the two of them are just add-ons of sorts to my Huck Finn "recalibration" and aren't motivated by some of the figures from Twain's original book.

Timid Jack's Supersuit

The Assault Pressure Supersuit, ProDuck3000i-V2.0
Alright. I've to admit that sometimes, in my job, I slip in this suit, too. Especially to draw ducks. Apropos supersuit, have you noticed that Jake Parker and peers opened up an entire new blog recently: DRAW FORCE !

The Critters In The Trumpet Tree

A few days ago, I had a really nice reunion with fellow animation artist (and magician!) Flaviano Armentaro in Milano, Italy. Right after that I did that piece above with the green critters chit chatting in their tree cafe. (BTW: Tree and characters take part of 'The Recalibrated Fantastic Adventures of Huckleberry Finn')

Hunter

This is another early piece out of a series of character development sketches. It's a pretty difficult task. It shapes well but there is room for improvement. Let's see, ...

Season's Greetings; Happy New Year!

A little update on the fly (December 30, 2007): Have a good start in the New Year! By the by, the critter below is a kind of a New Year's Soap Bubble Bogey.

Previous post (December 24, 2007) - The Green Christmas Goblin Duck:

Enjoy your holidays... I'll be enjoying mine! Due to extreme need of holiday and rest, I'll be taking a break until January 7, 2008.

The Evergreen Mon

The EG Mon loves to decorate its Christmas tree with gingerbread men and viking-dwarf bones. (Photos: Me and some icelandic friends in the city of Akureyri, and that is where I did the rough sketch of the EG Mon and the viking-dwarf; Icebergs - a few days after. Pretty inspirational.)
