Marsupilami

Actually, my very own take (my version comes with a beak, of course) on the Belgian comic book superstar. I drew this BTW in parallel with this here, sometime in 2010.

Here's the original one:

Another Riddle

You never guess what this very duck is piloting, I will give you the answer in the next post soon!

Here's a little help. But I had to leave the main part of this very vehicle blank...

Oh, before I forget, one item is missing, I said that I would post the original sketch of the Google ship, didn't I? Here you are:

Update: Don't miss to check out Jake's Chompbot No.5 toy, brought to you by Industria Mechanika!

Ageing Superhero

Lovely executed concept by the Stockholm based and excessively uber-talented Andreas Englund. More about Andreas' art over here...

My Family And The Wolf Teaser

Smashing, Barcelona based Headless Studios rocks, the animation and the design work so well together, I'm so in love with this preview. By the by, this here is just a quick post on the fly, replies on comments and mails etc will follow as soon as possible, I'm way behind with my mail and stuff. Sorry for the lack of answers, lately!

The Google Ship

Ride! I couldn't resist to do this very shape, I'll show you the original ship and some more jets with the next post.

Apropos Google, my buddy Willie Real (we had a glorious time at the Animation Workshop, last year) is one of the amazing five who are behind the Goggle logo artwork aka the Google Doodles, the others are Ryan Germick, Mike Dutton, Jennifer Hom and Sophia Foster-Dimino. More about them over here...

MB Motorsuit, Mod. Roadrunner

They have fun, haven't they? Anyways, besides my love for everything Franquin, especially for his weird machines and rides, I've a passion for Maurice Noble's background art and layout designs. One can see that here pretty good, no? By the by, Happy Birthday Cartoon Brew!

I did the rough sketch of this on my hotel room at the CTN Expo last November - look at the googles the birds wear, they're definitely heading for the upcoming Animation Week in Burbank, aren't they? ;)

Pac Man's Skull

I'm quite addicted to Hyungkoo Lee's cartoon skeletons but this here is not made by him but by French artist Gentil Garcon who teamed up with paleontologist Francois Escuilie to create this very skull.

850 Meters Teaser

Joeri Christiaen (lead animator on The Triplets of Belleville) and the talented girls and boys around him over at Belgium based Thuristar are brill! I love the guitar-playing/dancing part of this test, wow! By the way, besides, the second best thing to me about this here is the fact that the knight looks absolutely like my pal Nils. It's him, without doubt!

Bruce Bushman: Technical Sketches for Disney's Mickey Mouse Club

What a glory find, big thanks to Norm for the pointer! Look at those sketches! The draftsmanship of the drawings, the shapes, the sketchy shadows, the perspective reformulation, the lettering... just everything is beyond compare. For more about Bruce Bushman please follow the link here.
By the by, this posting here is a follow-up to this post from last January showing Bruce Bushman's concept sketches for Hanna Barbera Land.

Update: Here is even more of Bushman's work, some lovely concept art pieces for Disneyland:

Andre Franquin Inspired Air-Ride

I'm a great admirer of Andre Franquin, especially his Zorglub branded copters and air-bikes still are a great inspiration to my work. So, just for warm-up-fun, I tested the Zorglub colour/brand theme on this rough Motorbirds sketch below and it looks lovely, doesn't it? :)
