COAT OF SMILES, parody art of iconic symbols. A duck's hat, a mouse's ears and a smiling yellow button. Three iconic things brought together in one artwork.

J. Bompart is a monster, he really is.

It's almost unbelievable to see what he's built and animated out of one single drawing of mine. Here's Jorge Bompart's finished animation of the Yellow Glove Rover 313.

Team Duckberg at Wacky Races?

But what if Disney had sponsored a team in Hanna-Barbera's Wacky Races, with Donald Duck as the racing-car driver, in a 313-X GGT (Grand Gearloose Tourer)? Another "But What If ...?" rough sketch from my "That Would Be Awesome" crossover list.

Wonder Beak 3D by Jimmy Levinsky

Since Jimmy Levinsky, together with his pal Tommy Kinnerup, launched their 2D and 3D development service 'Characters for Animation' recently, I thought it would be a nice idea to reprise the wonderful 3D work Jimmy did with my Wonder Beak character, some time ago.

FABW

Some of the demo sketches I did at the character design workshop Laura and I were holding at Film Academy Baden-Wuerttemberg over the past couple of days. It's always a pleasure working with the FABW students, it really is.

Duckland 2

Whaaaat?

Indeed, the ducks will return. The answers to the questions Where, How and What will follow as soon as the final programming adjustment decisions took place.

It's all Giorgio Cavazzano's fault!

My earliest memories of fictional vehicles with legs instead of weels, enabling their pilots to deal with even the wildest off-road tracks, come from a 1970s Walt Disney Comics story by Giorgio Cavazzano (drawings) and Rodolfo Cimino (story); at least before George Lucas' All Terrain Defence Pod (AT-DP) Walkers entered into my life.
From then on, I was "doomed" to draw those kind of rides, too. Many thanks to Michael (duck313) for helping me with the original references.

Bye Bye Duckland!

Today marks the Duckland show's last day. But the ducks will return with another grand exhibition, soonish. Even earlier, there will be a Duckland catalogue available, both hard copy and digital. A million thanks for the huge support and interest! I'll keep you posted.

Time flies, in Duckland

This Sunday (April 18th) will be the last day of the Duckland show. Apropos, I forgot to post one last cast-out poster scribble I did during the pre-production of the exhibition, last year. I still like the little story it tells. Again, based on a painting by Carl Spitzweg.

Pffffff...

This is another rough preliminary Mickey Mouse concept I did in preparation for the official Disney exhibition in Desenzano del Garda (NOV 2018 - FEB 2019), celebrating Mickey Mouse's 90th birthday.

I don't remember why I didn't put this one on my short list for the exhibition but still like the layout of the piece, lots of empty canvas.

Jorge Bompart, the one-man animation band

Jorge Bompart just shared with me some of his his work-in-progress animation test bits he did with A.C.M.E.'s Yellow All-Terrain Glove Rover 313, a playful parody tribute to everything André Franquin, Wile E. Coyote, Evel Knievel and Donald Duck, all in one chunk. I'm really looking forward to seeing the finished piece.
