John Cleese, ACME Corp. Sales Rep

John Cleese would make a perfect ACME Corp. sales rep in a Monty Python/Warner Bros. cartoons multiverse.
Imagine him selling The Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch to Wile E. Coyote. Just saying.

By the by, I always chalk out a rough perspective grid for my drawings, to stay in good control about all things three-dimensional/lights/shading etc, I also try to keep it very, very loose and freehand for a more natural effect.

'Duckland 2' ist almost here

'Duckland 2' ist almost here, opening day will be October 14th at the Orpheum Theatre in Graz, Austria. The show will run until January 2022. I'll post the first official publicity sujet, tomorrow.

BTW, there will be a special 'Duckland' gig in December at the 10th anniversary of "Meet Ze Artists' in Cannes, France, as well. I'll keep you posted about the details.

Sebastian ErraZuriz vs My Looney Beaks

I'm constantly surprised about the unintentional parallels between Sebastian's work and mine. Of course, I twice used his designs as reference (like one of my favourite pieces by him, 'The Duck Fan'), but these here were made before I was familiar with his work, or at least with these very pieces by him. However, the big difference between the two of us is that his design solutions work for real, whereas mine work only in Duckland, and even there on rare occasions. They are more build for catastrophes.

"Now YOU will pay, Scrooge!"

I didn't put this here to the show's visual development pitch material, back then. I did this just for me. And now for your news feed, ten years later.

I desaturated the character's colours for a more cinematic and less cartoony atmosphere and went quite edgy with the poster's taglines, turning The Duck Avenger against his own family. Which he, by the way, actually was doing in his first comic book appearance, seeking revenge against Scrooge McDuck and Gladstone Gander, back in the late 1960s ("The Diabolical Duck Avenger", 1969). This story never saw an US-American release until 2015.

However, this here became pretty much a parody on my own work I was doing for Disney.
