COAT OF SMILES, parody art of iconic symbols. A duck's hat, a mouse's ears and a smiling yellow button. Three iconic things brought together in one artwork.

Creepy Yet Inspiring Character

The most creepy yet inspiring film character of my childhood was the Child Catcher from 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang' (1968), played by the great Sir Robert Helpmann (1909-1986).

Another One Million Dollar Gift I Brought Home From Florence

My childhood's most, most, most favourite TV cartoon series was 'Vicky The Viking' ('Wickie und die starken Männer'). So, guess what Nemo Academy's art director Luca Chiarotti made me as a gift, last week? An animation drawing from the original 1970s production! Thank you so much Luca for this amazing piece of animation art. And a million thanks to Laura for having told Luca that I loved (and still love) this very series so much.

One Million Dollar Gift

Uber-talented Disney artist Francesco Guerrini made me a one million dollar present in Florence during my workshop's lunch break, last Saturday. He presented me with two sheets full of original drawings of him. One sheet with Donald Duck all over it, the other one with beautiful versions of my own birds designs. I was really, really blown away. Francesco has no idea how big this is to me.

Drawing In Photoshop

Since I draw mostly digitally, I try to avoid the kind of sterile vibe to it by putting high-res photographs of real paper and pencils on a background layer in Photoshop, at least for the rough process. I even add image noise to the background...
