Unfinished test from a DD project, a couple of years ago. This was a personal warm-up piece, to become ready for the "operation".

Marc Davis' pencil
Quite recently, Federico Fiecconi invited me to doodle with Marc Davis' (MARC DAVIS!) own original mechanical pencil! The outcome was this odd little piece of sketch that doesn't have any purpose other than to smash some really fast lines on the paper and see what happens. Anyways, back at my desk, I started refining and preparing the level for detailing a little, just for the fun of it.

Animation art from the Masters
If you happen to be in Bergamo, here a recommendation: There is currently a wonderful exhibition "dalla carta ai cartoni" curated by our amazing friend Federico Fiecconi. The exhibition - located in the breathtaking Monastero di Astino - comprises original drawings by Mark Davis, Winsor McCay, Chuck Jones, Bruno Bozzetto, David Silverman, Otto Messmer, Genndy Tartakovsky, Walt Kelly, ... from Snow White, Bambi, Sleeping Beauty, Peter Pan, Fantasia, Donald Duck, La Linea, ... Impressive, you'll see.

Jim Henson Teaches Us How To Make A Muppet In 1969
Jim Henson and Muppeteers show kids how to make puppets from simple things like socks. This video aired on Public Television in 1969, prior to Sesame Street, on Iowa Public Television's "Volume See" kids' show. www.iptv.org

Upright format
I'm not sure if it's only me but, sometimes, I enjoy to rotate the screen in order to work in portrait format, it has a kind of a scaffold feel to it. This BTW really works lovely with tall characters and all sorts of upright format things.

Hägar the Horrible
I always have been a huge fan of Chris Browne's Hägar the Horrible, so, a short while ago I did this kind of an animated-feature-ified version of Hägar for a character design demo at FH Salzburg. The background is borrowed from an Albert Bierstadt painting, again.

James Francis Cauty, one of my artist heroes.
Especially, I loved his "Splatter" exhibition at the Aquarium in London, from quite a couple of years back. (Photos via Hypebeast)
