COAT OF SMILES, parody art of iconic symbols. A duck's hat, a mouse's ears and a smiling yellow button. Three iconic things brought together in one artwork.

Albert Uderzo

Alberto Aleandro Uderzo (1927 - 2020). I mean, from a cartoonist's perspective, really, who didn't he influence. I for one, as a kid, came in first contact with his work not through 'Asterix' but 'Ompa-pa and Brother Two Scalp' ('Oumpah-pah' in French).

Fake duck feet

Fake duck feet never fail to cheer him up. Of course, these come with a proper super suit. ... by the by, this is a double-barrelled Colt HB. You can't shoot anybody with it. It's just for speed sketching, it literally shoots drawings out onto paper.

Utterly off-model Donald Duck with a freshly brewed caffè doppio macchiato

"Caffè macchiato, sometimes called espresso macchiato, is an espresso coffee drink with a small amount of milk, usually foamed. In Italian, macchiato means 'stained' or 'spotted' so the literal translation of caffè macchiato is 'stained' or 'marked coffee'." (Wikipedia)

The Wollmaus

Recently, I revisited the 'Wollmaus' character (a digitally Mickey Mouse parody painting I did two or three years ago) by creating a new large preliminary drawing and adding little details to it, like seams, creases and so forth. This very drawing will become the model for two acrylic paintings, one about 90x70cm and the other one about 200x150cm. The next steps then will be grounding the canvases and transferring the preliminary sketch onto them. I'm not sure if I'll do it freehand or via projection. Let's see ...

Juxtaposition to the max

Donald Duck vs Totoro. The reason for why I did this juxtapose parodyart is that I wanted to see it. Usually, my drawing process includes four steps, (1) rough character layout, (2) rough details, (3) linework clean-up and (4) colours.

Marco Rota

Influences such as Marco Rota's Donald Duck were fundamental ingredients of my own duck style. Marco Rota is one of the world's finest duck artists, without dispute. Which is also true of the wonderful Giorgio Cavazzano. You can find BTW more about Giorgio on his newly instablished Instagram page right here: Cavazzano's Instagram ---
