The Complete Duck©

Recently, I started putting together all duck/birds/peckers/beaks artwork I ever did. This gonna be quite page-intensive... this here's the rough copy of the cover.

Indeed very, very rough.

Snow

The weatherman said heavy snowfalls are in the forecast for Saturday night. BTW, I already posted this piece earlier this year. This is just an updated (a little) version. Anyways, I had a great summer an' a nice autumn, so I'm looking forward to a bright white winter!

Sketches

Rough and semi-rough.

Design Process Pieces...

...plus inspiration material (via Pink Tentacle).

Viewing them in detail I'm always surprised how rough my initial sketches are, aren't they?

PIXEL VIENNA Artwork Update

I've already developed a rough preview sujet which shows a Pixel logo shaped jet bike of sorts for next year's conference... anyways, I hope to see you at the conference, tomorrow:

PIXEL CONFERENCE, OKT 5-7, 2012, Academy of Sciences, Vienna, Austria.

Update: Process collage, step by step:

PIXEL CONFERENCE Poster Art

Here we are, the finished design for the PIXEL CONFERENCE (OCTOBER 5-7 2012, VIENNA) art-battle promo poster. I like the uber-sophomoric thouch to it... but be that as it may, if you are in the Vienna area and love animation, grab a ticket and see these two crackers: BRUNO BOZZETTO and OSCAR GRILLO! I'll be around, too.

Pelican

This is a revisit to an older piece (2008) I still like very much. Those photos we BTW took in the same year in Viña Del Mar, Chile. What a great trip that was.

Plus another revisited piece from that time...

Wolfen!

I restarted recording process clips in parallel with my work, here's one of those.

Update: In the comments section Matt was asking about how I go about believable weight. What I often do/have in mind when I'm drawing is like the character kind of stands on two (because he's four-legged) imaginary supernatural cement blocks or magnets which boost gravity of sorts. Apropos, my pal Wouter did a nice post about this issue, too: Wouter Tulp about weight

Save The Date!

THIS IS AN IMPORTANT REMINDER: Two superstars of hand-drawn animation will be heading for Vienna in October. Signor Rossi creator Bruno Bozzetto and Golden Palm winner Oscar Grillo will giving talks at this year's PIXEL conference: October 5-7 2012, Academy of Sciences, Vienna, Austria.

"Bruno Bozzetto's films have been one of the greatest inspirations for me as an animator and storyteller. He has created some of the funniest animated films ever made and is one of the most clever storytellers around. Bruno's designs are so appealing and his comic timing is truly unsurpassed."

Apropos, this is the very building where the PIXEL conference takes place. While this painting is from ca. 1759, the building and its surroundings still look like the same today.
