Prescribing Bambi, Increasing Empathy

David Berry Jr, a poacher from Missouri, was arrested last August with his father and brother for killing hundreds of deer, taking their heads and leaving the bodies. Judge Robert George ordered him to watch the Walt Disney movie Bambi at least once a month during his time in prison (via).

"Cinema, like all art forms, is an empathy machine: it expands our perspective and invites us to walk a mile in someone else’s shoes – or hooves, in the case of Bambi."
