COAT OF SMILES, parody art of iconic symbols. A duck's hat, a mouse's ears and a smiling yellow button. Three iconic things brought together in one artwork.
The PAPERWALKER Journal is the personal weblog of DUCKLAND creator and award-winning character designer Florian Satzinger – who worked on characters such as Donald Duck, Mickey Mouse, Looney Tunes (Daffy Duck, Bugs Bunny, Silvester etc.), Pinky And The Brain, A.J.Hogg and Scooby-Doo, for studios such as Warner Bros., Disney, ReelFX and Zanuck Family Entertainment – in which he shares bits and pieces of his character design work, processes, visual development, inspirations and reference materials of current, past and future projects.

PLEASE NOTE, the displayed parody artworks of classical cartoon characters are not copies but distinct satiric imitations/caricatures, by exaggerating and transforming the original characters and their related indica (see 'Coat of Smiles') in a way that creates new originals and new meanings, different from the intentions of the originals.

When I was a little duck ...

... I was used to having my art studio on the floor of my parents' living room, right under a giant glass bricks window. Best studio ever :-)

Lucca Games And Comics, OCT 29 - NOV 1, 2015

John Nevarez and I will be at Lucca Games & Comics for a talk and book signing of our most recent work, on invitation of the magnificent Nemo Academy. Lucca is the world's 2nd largest con, in fact, by now the festival has outdone the numbers of San Diego Comic Con. Attendance in recent years has reached over 400,000, making it the biggest festival of its kind in Europe and the second largest in the world after Comiket in Tokyo.

And here's a little sketch demo of this piece. It's very, very short and it comes without sound and nearly no editing. I hope you enjoy it anyway:

Sketch Demo

Here's a little sketch demo as a follow-up to the posting from before, here. It's very, very short and it comes without sound and nearly no editing. I hope you enjoy it anyway.

Bruno Bozzetto @ Paperwalker

Here's photo "evidence" Bruno Bozzetto was at the very opening of the Paperwalker exhibit. What a pleasure that was. BTW, in this connection big thanks to The Daily Cartoonist for spotlighting the show, my inbox went nuts after it. Photos ©Jorj Konstantinov

Exhibition

Recently, I've started the selection process for my upcoming solo exhibition with an inital overview of completely new work only, which has never been published or even posted on the internet.

(Photo Satzinger & Hardenberg/Paperwalker Archive)

The Creative Industries Styria and the Designforum Steiermark will host this very show (which will run from SEP 10th until NOV 11th, 2014) at the incredibly futuristic, blob-shaped Kunsthaus Graz - this will be absolutely to John Starduck's taste, for sure.

«Stuff To Throw At Monster»

Yesterday, I got sent the Photoshop files of Eric Goldberg's and my "art clash". One can easily see what a true master Eric Goldberg is, while I started with a lot of scribbling (monster), he nearly inked his piece (fox) right away. The topic was BTW "catch me if you can", take a look:

Here are a few snapshots of our battleground at the PIXEL conference. Sorry for the photos' blurry quality, those were just quick shots taken with my phone, only seconds after the battle's end.

Ze Team

Tigobo Animation Studios: Ze team, complete, at least for the most part. Arthur Fong was at that moment already on his way to Paris and Casey Maxwell Clair and Christopher Beaumont took the air.
Here are some impressions of the character design workshop Stéphane Chung and I were giving @ Meet Ze Artists. We were btw using one of Carl Spitzweg's famous postman paintings as reference/inspiration, here.
